Recently, the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee made important deployments regarding optimizing the regional economic layout and expanding high-level opening-up, explicitly proposing the development requirements of building the Hainan Free Trade Port to high standards and jointly building the “Belt and Road” initiative with high quality. This provides a guide for action for COSCO Shipping Holdings/COSCO Shipping Lines to serve national strategies.
Against this backdrop, COSCO Shipping Lines has launched a new CAP bi-weekly shipping route connecting Hainan Yangpu, Nansha, South Pacific, and Northern Australia. By increasing service frequency at Yangpu Port and adding direct routes to Nansha Port, it aims to establish an efficient and convenient maritime trade channel between Hainan Yangpu, South China, and the South Pacific and Northern Australia. The maiden voyage is expected to depart from Xiaochantan, Hainan, on January 1, 2026.
According to reports, this CAP route upgrade focuses on improving service efficiency. While retaining the advantages of the Ningbo-Townsville express route, it further improves the logistics network layout between South China and the South Pacific and Northern Australia by adding direct routes to Nansha Port and increasing service frequency at Yangpu Port. The upgraded shipping routes achieve precise coverage and efficient connection of regional trade channels, providing enterprises along the routes with higher-quality and more flexible shipping solutions, and helping to improve the quality and efficiency of regional economic and trade exchanges.

Specific core advantages include: the first bi-weekly service from Xiaochantan, Hainan to Papua New Guinea and Northern Australia; new direct services from Nansha to Papua New Guinea and Northern Australia; and a 10-day express service from Ningbo to Townsville.

The upgraded CAP route port sequence is as follows:
Southbound: Xiaochantan – Hong Kong – Nansha – Ningbo – Townsville – Brisbane – Lae – Port Moresby – Darwin.

Northbound: Townsville – Brisbane – Lae – Port Moresby – Darwin – Xiaochantan – Hong Kong – Nansha – Ningbo.

COSCO Shipping Lines stated that it will continue to optimize its route network layout, deepen its supply chain services, and build a more intelligent, efficient, and reliable three-dimensional logistics network. With higher-quality services and more innovative models, it aims to help customers explore new development opportunities in global trade and contribute to the stability and prosperity of the global supply chain.
